*blocking out the noise*

as Lent is coming to an end with Easter upcoming this Sunday (shoutout to all my Jewish friends celebrating Passover this week as well) I am taking the time to reflect back on a habit I took up for these 40 days— blocking out the noise. transparently, I found myself ruminating and hyper focused on social media, on my engagement, on trying to chase an algorithm in the hopes my content would reach the community I have worked so hard to cultivate and finding myself obsessing over trying to “crack the new algorithm" and I had forgotten the whole purpose: CONNECTION.

regardless whether a post I could create was reaching the amount of audience I was used to or not, what mattered was what it DID for others. did it help inspire? connect? feel seen or empowered? THOSE are he metrics that matter.

thus, to find this awakening I BLOCKED SOCIAL MEDIA ALL DAY every single Friday and you know what I found?

PEACE.

I was present, I wasn’t worried about “how the post is doing”, I was able to have space in my mind for all the multitudes of other things I need to focus on (aka building and preparing to launch THE BIG THING, setting the seeds to raise capital for THE PRODUCT) and I could just BREATHE AND BE JOYFUL again.

social media & the noise of the internet can become an addiction no different than alcohol, drugs, food, or a muktude of other “idols” we can so easily put ahead of other things because it makes us FEEL good…but does it actually make us GOOD?

I used a social media blocking app on my phone called OPAL (link here) but there are also products out there like the brick that can “LOCK” the phone and limit screen time to help our brains develop new habits. honestly, I needed a new and healthier relationship with social media and this Lent and these FRIDAY NOISE BLOCKS have truly helped recalibrate what matters, and what doesn’t.

its ok to need a tool to help build a habit for a better you. put down the screen and get onto living REAL life. xoxo

03 NUTRITION

miso soy seabass

this fish will single-handed make you the certified GOAT of the house and don’t tell Chef Nobu ( this dish is inspired by his iconic fish)…but its really easy and far less expensive to make at home! Recipe & IG video tutorial are below and on @nkokitchen ! be sure to save and tag me if you make it at home and get all the compliments like I KNOW you will!

ingredients:
    â€˘            1/2 cup miso paste
â€˘            3 tbs cup packed brown sugar
    â€˘            3 tbs  soy sauce
â€˘            4 (4-6 oz) fillets fresh or thawed from frozen sea bass, about 1 inch thick

  1. Whisk together miso paste, sugar, and soy sauce in a bowl.

  2. Place sea bass fillets in a large container; spread marinade/paste over fillets.

  3. Chill in the refrigerator at least 2 hours (up to 12 hours for AMAZING flavor)

  4. Preheat the oven’s broiler and set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source. Prop the oven door to remain slightly ajar. (Cook on baking sheet lined with foil- NO PARCHMENT PAPER)

  5.  Broil sea bass in the preheated oven until fish flakes easily with a fork, 7 to 9 minutes.

  6. Serve with rice cooked in bone broth and a veggie of your choice!

05 YOUTUBE:

finally bit the bullet and started a YouTube channel. Why? Because honestly with social media becoming more about creating content that will only reach your community if you prioritize shock or vitality, I wanted a place where I can share REAL life, the truth behind all the little clips we see on social media in a place built more for community.

there are some MAJOR life changes, businesses we’re building and more that i’ll be sharing on YouTube in more detail so please go

for all the YouTube content and an even more positive community than what is becoming standard on other social platforms. let me know what kinds of videos I can create for us all— email me back or leave something in the comments!!
